TEDxAkron Q&A with Asha

Q: What do you love most about working/living in Akron?

What I love most about living in Akron is the accessibility to the outdoors in a meaningful way. The trails, parks, and communal spaces are something that has been transformative for me. Being able to enjoy all four seasons with a brisk walk, from a park bench, or a scenic car ride really allows me to maintain a connection with myself in an impactful way- that's beneficial for myself and those around me.

Q: What do you think you’re most known for and what might surprise people about you that most people wouldn’t know?

I think I am most known for being community-centered. I think something that people wouldn't know about me is that I am a deep lover of music - I love to listen to music, attend concerts, sing, and tinker with instruments any chance I can, currently my bass guitar.

Q: If you didn’t do what you did now, what would you do or how would you spend your time in an alternative universe?

In an alternate universe I would be in a cabin in the mountains, where I can watch the seasons change, and read my books and make music.

Q: What’s your favorite mantra?

"Well-adjusted humans continuously re-adjust" - This year, 2024, has been a state of transition in my life, and as I explore new parts of myself, in all facets, I work to remind myself that well-adjusted people continuously make necessary changes for themselves as they navigate new and different circumstances.

Q: What is the one thing you’re looking forward to the most as a future TEDx speaker?

I am looking forward to being welcomed into a community full of change agents. When I think of TEDx speakers I think of individuals who are looking to question, challenge, encourage to re-learn, and/or amplify their community in an impactful way. I want nothing more than to be open to building relationships that are meaningful to myself and others and this opportunity affords me another doorway to doing so.
