Who is Kenny Lambert?

Kenny Lambert began his journey of sobriety on May 16, 2018. Shortly after completing treatment he was inspired to create a positive and uplifting clothing brand called "Just A Dad From Akron". He now owns and operates a store front at 937 Kenmore Blvd., Akron Ohio 44314.

What started as a clothing brand has now become a movement across the world. Within the walls of his brick and mortar is much more than just a clothing store. It has become a safe place for kids in the community, an inspiring place for adults, a venue for weekly sober support meetings and so much more!

TEDxAkron Q&A with Kenny

Q: What do you love most about working/living in Akron?

The things I love most about working & living in Akron is the sense of community. When everyone comes together for a greater purpose I truly believe that our City can and is one of the best places to be. Working with people who think outside the box, and work together for the bigger picture is what making a difference is all about.

Q: What do you think you’re most known for and what might surprise people about you that most people wouldn’t know?

I think I’m most know for my journey of sobriety, bringing hope to a place that was once dark and now has some light shinning in it. Born and raised in the Kenmore neighborhood, battling addiction for 10+ years, I’ve experienced both sides of the street. I believe that helps inspire others that anything is possible. I would think most people don’t know that I still struggle with mental health and anxiety. I smile a lot and always try to keep a positive mindset on this journey.

Q: If you didn’t do what you did now, what would you do or how would you spend your time in an alternative universe?

If I didn’t do what I do now I would enjoy working in a recovery/rehab facility or coaching youth sports.

Q: What's your favorite quote or mantra and why?

“No matter how far down you have gone, it’s never too late to turn your life around and change”

Q: What is the one thing you’re looking forward to the most as a future TEDx speaker?

I’m looking forward to sharing the importance of recovery and community. They both go hand & hand, are very important in making the world a better place for the youth and future to come.
